This Tone decoder / encoder unit is a versatile little device to either produces tones that can be modulated into a transmitter, for example in a repeater system. Or it can be used to decode subaudible tones received through a receiver. It is also possible to install it into an older transceiver that does not provide PL tone detection / generation. When used in a repeater system, two units are needed to encode and decode, since the MX465 can only do one at the time. In a simplex application encode / decode can be achieved with only one unit, since the transceiver is either receiving or transmitting but not both at the same time. Programming of the tone is performed by selecting the approriate code using the two Rotary Hex switches.
